The Siksika Board of Education was officially incorporated under the Companies Act of Alberta on September 1, 1989 with specific Articles of Association. The Board of Directors hired the first Director of Education who hired teachers and staff for the official school opening in September 1989.
There were 376 students enrolled in the Siksika Nation schools; Crowfoot School – 198 K-11 students and Chief Old Sun – 190 K- 6 students. The three provincial county schools had 350 students enrolled in neighbouring county schools.
Siksika Nation High School opened its doors in 1997.
Siksika Outreach School began its journey in a temporary portable in October 2008 and moved into its current building in November 2011.
There are approximately 123 students enrolled in the SBE schools; Chief Crowfoot School, Chief Old Sun School, Siksika High School and Siksika Outreach School. There are 000 in the neighbouring county schools.
